Project #2 – „Design and development of a dielectrophoretic device provided with multiplexed interdigitated microelectrodes for CTCs sorting and analysis based on broadband dielectric spectroscopy”

          General objective of Project #2 is the development of a dielectrophoretic device provided with multiplexed interdigitated microelectrodes of high selectivity and analysis velocity, versatile, reconfigurable, and cost-effective and useful for separating the CTCs within a mix or in extracts of solid tumors, which will allow the paralell sorting of three different types of cancer cells. Moreover, imediately after sorting, the microfluidic device will offer the possibility of assessing anticancer drugs, known or in development, on isolated cells, improving knowledge of the patient's response to antitumor treatment.
          The proposed system will allow the direct evaluation of cytotoxicity / proliferation of isolated tumor cells from patients or malignant cell lines in order to evaluate the action of drugs used in the antitumor therapies on different types of tumor cells.
